Exploring the Connection between C1 & C2 Vertebrae and Headaches
The academic literature discussing the C1 and C2 vertebrae suggests they can impact headaches. In the fields of physical anthropology, osteology, pharmacology, neurology, medicine, and physical therapy, there have been many research studies on connections between the upper cervical vertebrae and different types of headaches. The conclusions drawn from many of them coincide with the goals of this research paper, where there is thought to be a link between the C1 and C2 vertebrae.
Gender Expression through Clothing (A Comparison of Three Sisters' Experiences)
For a Gender Across Cultures class, our final project could focus on a research topic of our choosing. I decided to delve deeper into gender expression through clothing. To supplement my research, I interviewed my sisters. These interviews allowed me to present my findings in a narrative-style approach as well as emphasize how different people, even sisters, can use clothing as a means of expressing their gender.
Antisemitism
This paper on Antisemitism was written for my social inequality course, in which we could research any form of inequality and present it through a medium of our choice. Because of my experience in social media, I made multiple Instagram posts with critical information I found through my research. The posts are currently on my Instagram research account, linked here. Additionally, my findings will be included on the Illinois Office of Equity website.
Forensic Technology and Its Impact on Indigenous People
Technology and culture are inseparable; in this amicus brief, I emphasize this fact and explain how some conventional methods used in forensic investigations may prohibit people from practicing their religions freely. Certain types of technology may eliminate this issue without hindrance to forensic investigations.
Arrival and Linguistics
Linguistic Anthropology may feel like an immense niche subject area, but it is more applicable to everyday things than you may think. In this essay, I look at the movie Arrival through a linguistic lens and discuss how the production incorporated science into the film.
Sex and Gender Impact on Covid-19
When thinking about human variation and current events, I thought it would be interesting to research if and how sex can impact Covid-19. Moreover, I looked at how the articles defined sex and gender and whether these definitions were accurate.
Forensic Technology and Digital Literacy
In this research paper, I look into multiple types of forensic technology and how they can be used most effectively. Additionally, I discuss how digital literacy is connected to criminal investigations.
Diversity in my Community
In my course on human variation, one of our projects included utilizing the U.S. Census website to research different categories in our hometown, county, state, and country. This research taught me a lot regarding the varying economic statuses of people based on where they live and the people that populate a particular community and why.
